Henson Homecoming—The Jim Henson Exhibition Opening Festival, Baltimore, MD
In celebration of the 6-month residency of Imagination Unlimited: The Jim Henson Exhibition at The Maryland Center for History and Culture in Baltimore, the museum hosted a full-day launch celebration, The Henson Homecoming. It featured live puppet shows, local artists, puppet-making, chalk drawings, live music, food, and film screenings. Jim Henson Legacy President Craig Shemin made a presentation about his book, Sam and Friends: The Story of Jim Henson’s First Television Show, and hosted a screening of Jim Henson: Commercials and Experiments. The work featured was created in the Maryland area early in Jim’s career.

The MD Center for History and Culture has artifacts from EssKay, the sponsor of
Jim Henson’s Sam and Friends local TV show from the 1950s.
The exhibit in Baltimore included unique puppets like The Country Trio who were based on
the likenesses of Jim Henson, Jerry Nelson and Frank Oz.
