Jim and Jane Henson: Creative Work, Creative Play exhibit opens at the Greenwich Historical Society in Connecticut
On April 5th, 2017, members of The Jim Henson Legacy board and the Henson family celebrated the opening of an exhibit, Jim and Jane Henson: Creative Work, Creative Play, at the Greenwich Historical Society in Connecticut (through October 8, 2017.) Curated by Karen Falk and Susie Tofte of The Jim Henson Company Archives and Karen Frederick of the GHS with contributions from Cheryl Henson and Heather Henson, the exhibit focused on the experience of Jim and Jane Henson during the years the Henson family lived in Greenwich (1964-1971). While raising their children in a creative household, Jim and Jane developed their artistry both in their television work and with personal fine art and craft projects. Photos, puppets, a dollhouse Jim built for Cheryl, Jane’s oil paintings and ceramic sculptures, and family projects as well as designs created for the early days of Sesame Street demonstrated the positive impact of an artistic approach to work and family life.
